Introduction I remember seeing the Gladiator for the first time when I was five years old. The movie was a hit, and it was on TV at least once every week. I would watch it with my Grandma and my Uncle. My Parents were Physicians and worked 24-hour shifts in an Ambulance. It may sound like they were making lots and lots of money, but this is simply not the case. Even though I knew how the movie would end, I still believed that somehow, he would survive every time. Sorry for the spoiler. I cried every single time I saw Maximus die, I felt very emotional. One night my grandma could not stand it anymore, and she told me: “ Don ’ t you worry my child, he did not die, he just fell asleep. ” I immediately wiped off my tears and put on a big smile on my face. Only about three seconds later, my uncle goes: “ Fell asleep? Are you out of your mind? Can ’ t you see the blood all over the place? He ’ s dead! ” Well, you probably guessed what happened next. I started crying even harder.
By then, I already knew that I wanted to make an effect on people, I wanted to evoke emotions in them the way they were evoked in me, and I was only five. I fell in love with movies but didn ’ t know in which direction I would go to. Directing? Acting? Writing? I envy those who
know their path from the very beginning, but I am grateful for the opportunity to try various things. All I knew was this- Whatever it is, it must be connected to the movies.
Who is this book for?
This book is for everyone interested in Human Psychology and Screenwriting. I would view this book in between “ The Easy Read Time Waster ” and “ You Better Not Read This Before Sleep. ” It ’ s not complicated, nor is it a Facebook post. It will make you think just enough to keep you intrigued but satisfied.
Why I wrote this book?
Because, why not? There are tons of books written and being published every day, and this is wonderful. This means people have something worth telling, and they write it down on a piece of paper. We, humans, love to tell stories, all kinds of stories, mystery, fiction, romance, and many more. Our ancestors were painting their hunting processes and rituals on cave walls. Nowadays we make movies, write books, sing songs, etc. I wrote this book because I wanted to share my thoughts with you.
What is this book about?
This book contains 5 short screenplays, followed by their philosophical and psychological analyses. All of the screenplays are inspired by my life, my ups, but mostly downs. Motivational Speaker Zig Ziglar said: “ Your life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it ” . So, I took my life and reacted to it by creating different scenarios about it. Inspired by the philosophies of legendary Writer/Directors such as Akira Kurosawa and Ingmar Bergman, I wanted to combine their views with Modern Geniuses such as Christopher Nolan and Damien Chazelle.
